To all who are liking the photos and video from the Houston Art Car Parade:

Please know that it wasn’t easy getting to this stage of the Just Ask World Tour. It took a lot of time, sweat and money to make this happen.

Reggie and I were happy to take care of the time and sweat and a lot of the money involved with raising awareness of neurofibromatosis.

But now, unfortunately we are falling short on the money part that will take us through the tour.

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 8.45.11 PMI am truly excited as we have proven that the Just Ask Bus will work as a great awareness vehicle, pardon the pun, through the views donations and Shares of news of our travels.

The $15,000 we have raised so far has helped to get the Just Ask bus in condition to travel the country. We have a motor we kind of trust, the exterior wrap is finished and looks great thanks to some special help from Matt Cline and Bayou Graphics, and a very functional but yet cool looking interior from the Upholstery Shop.

Now, quite honestly, we need to build up the GoFundMe account so that we can actually travel with the bus.

This upcoming trip to attend the CTF Forum in Scottsdale, Arizona has more than tapped us out on our expense account. Fo us to continue and post a schedule, we will need to raise some money, not a lot, but enough to get us to a few more locations.

We really want to be able to make it to Canada and see all of our friends in Vancouver, Calgary, Manitoba and, yes, Red Deer.

Any help you can provide, no matter how small will go a long way for Just Ask to fulfill it’s mission — to make life easier to all with neurofibromatosis by raising awareness, understanding and compassion for those challenged by it.

I can’t think of a better ambassador for NF patients than Reggie Bibbs.

He is doing extraordinary things way beyond even his comfort level to make it easier for the next NF patient to live life a little easier.

If you are unable to donate, and we totally understand, at least share this page with your friends in the event they would like to help.

I think we owe Reggie our unending love and affection but also the funds to help him do what he was born to do.

ALL HAIL JOANIE KING!!!

If it wan’t for Joanie King, the Just Ask Foundation would not have had the strength, stamina, know how or ambition to turn a run down, 1991 GMC school bus into a cool, smooth running, good looking, art car that has been seen by over 300,000 people on a Saturday afternoon in Houston.

If it wasn’t for Joanie’s enthusiasm, kindness, generosity and can-do spirit, I’m afraid of where we would be with the Just Ask Tour. She gave us strength and hope when we had none and her contagious enthusiasm kept us going when we were ready to give up.

It seemed only fitting then on Saturday that Joanie King was leading the way as the Just Ask World Tour Bus made its inaugural voyage in the year’s Houston Art Car Parade.

I just want to say this about Joanie…when other people just promise, Joanie is the person that does. I would rather have one Joanie than a thousand of the others!

She will always have our back and we will always have hers.

We love you Joanie King.

Reggie and I are so blessed to be surrounded by so many caring souls at the Houston Art Car Parade! We were fortunate to meet and greet some of the 300,000  Houstonians who turned out for this year’s event!

Oh, and just look at the vehicle that just happens to be in the background from the Houston Chronicles’s website below!

IMG_9621Man, you have no idea how long Reggie and I have waited for this moment where we can finally say, “The Just Ask Bus is ready to roll!”

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of John Coleman, at Auto Upholstery by Coleman in Houston, we have a totally new interior with seats, cabinets and everything! I can’t tell you how proud I am to have our new bus represent the Just Ask Foundation as we raise awareness of neurofibromatosis throughout the United States and Canada!

We are so grateful to all of our friends who donated their time and money to make this bus a reality! Of course, we’re broke now but very happy! Thank you all for your nonstop support!!! Onward and upward!

Reggie Bibbs of the Just Ask Foundation
Reggie Bibbs playing innocent like he wasn’t responsible for eating all those chili samples in front of him. You could have saved some for the rest of us!

The Just Ask Tour rolled into the Cottonwood Restaurant in Houston, TX today to help support one of our biggest supporters, the Pysch Ward Sirens and the Houston Roller Derby!

Today, Reggie and I sampled some of the best chili in the history of Psych Ward Sirens Annual Chili Cook-Off!

It was so great seeing our old friends and meeting new ones! One of the great things about driving around the country promoting awareness of neurofibromatosis is meeting all of the wonderful, compassionate people who come up to just ask us about NF.

It was so nice to see former skater and new mom, Laurentina Marquardt at the cook-off with her two-month old baby! Congratulations!!!

Had a lot of fun with the guys at the Derby Brothers Booth! We didn’t stay till the end but it would be my guess that these guys won again, for like the sixth straight year!

Our best buddy, Misty “Mistilla the Killa” Moody was there to greet us and talk for a bit! Mistilla is one of the original founding members of the Houston Roller Derby.

The guys came over to welcome Reggie back to town after hangin’ with his NF brethren in San Diego and Los Angeles.

It’s always great to see old friends like Mark Sansouci, William Hughes, John Person, Hayden West, Laura Wood, Mina Hughes and Matt Jones.

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Music Night and all agreed, it was long overdue! The boys and Laura were in fine form tonight.

Ok, it may not look very pretty on the inside but it’s doing a world of good on the outside!

The reason the inside is so bare is because Reggie and I were determined to get on the road as quickly as possible to raise awareness of neurofibromatosis so we got the bus as mechanically sound as possible while designing a vinyl wrap on the outside to promote our message.

Anyway, as soon as Reggie returns from his California visit we will hit the road in the bus. interioraAnd, as always, donations are always appreciated and very much needed to keep the tour alive. Our new ad for the Just Ask World Tour campaign.
Our new ad for the Just Ask World Tour campaign.

In preparation for our Just Ask World Tour promoting awareness of neurofibromatosis, we are preparing special ads that we will send to the newspapers of the cities we are about to visit to see if they would run them as a Public Service Announcement (meaning for FREE!) while we are in town or afterward as a reminder or before as a teaser.

We have a bunch of really cool headlines but this is, by far, my favorite!

If anyone would like copies of the ads to try to get your local newspapers to run them, I would be happy to supply the files. Like Reggie says, Just Ask!

For more medical type definition of neurofibromatosis, I like the Mayo Clinic description best:http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/neurofibromatosis/basics/definition/con-20027728

ABOUT NEUROFIBROMATOSIS (NF):*

Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is a common, yet under- recognized genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body.

• NF is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington’s disease combined.

• NF occurs in one in every 3,000 people and affects millions worldwide.

• NF can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain.

• NF can arise in any family regardless of race or ethnic origin. Roughly half of all cases arise in families with no history of the disorder.

• NF has three distinct forms, NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis.

• NF research is shedding new light on several forms of cancer, brain tumors, bone abnormalities and learning disabilities, ultimately benefiting the broader community in addition to those with NF.

• Progress toward ending NF is being made every day. Because of Children’s Tumor Foundation funding, there are over 40 on-going NF-specific clinical trials in existence, and 44 NF Clinics nationwide.
