Texas has been lobbying since 1997 to ensure that NF research continues to make progress. Since that time, over 200 million has been contributed to NF research programs. Within the last few years, research funds have steadily been decreasing. However, today I am proud to announce that they are “back up!” The House Appropriations Committee just ruled that another 25 million will go towards the 2010 Department of Defense NF Research program. This is a tremendous victory since last years projects only collected 10 million. That’s a 250% increase!
Thanks to all of you for writing your Representatives, It worked! And thanks to Reggie Bibbs, Sandra and Emily Parker, Dr. Slopis and Dr. Moore for taking the time to personally visit Representative Sheila Jackson Lee.
HOWEVER – The 25 MILLION IS NOT SECURED – YET. We still need YOUR HELP to SECURE THESE FUNDS! Please email, or better yet, hand write and fax a personal letter asking that our Senate approve the House Appropriations proposal of 25 million towards NF research. Thanks again, together we are making a difference!

It has been 3 years I have been attending the bouts at the Houston Roller Derby. How can I explaine how much I enjoy it.  All of our Huston teams, as well as the visters from other cities, all ways treat their fans as thow they are the stars. You don’t have to be Reggie Bibbs, to be treatewith the red carpet.  All that is required is to show up on Roller Durby night and you will feel the how I feel when leaving the games. All of the skaters are tough on the track, but very gental when greating fans. I’m thankful for HRD for making JUST ASK, their chairty for the month. Joen in the fun and if you haven’t gone to one of the bouts, you should it is for sure to be an enteraining night.

Megan is one of my oldest, dearest friends!

She has NF also but her tumors are on the inside. I met Megan when we shot a TV commercial promoting awareness of neurofibromatosis back in 1989. She was just a little thing then as you can tell from the photo above. She was just 3 years old!

3714925710_d8415e32cfShe’s 23 years old now and is so beautiful and so nice!3714720063_c1869c12a2

We found each other on Facebook after all these years and decided to get together again so we met at one of my favorite restaurants, Tilas, in River Oaks.

What a great day!

We just talked and talked and talked about the old days, 3714066819_141d9976fcwhat each of us have been up to, and where we want to go in our lives. I told her about the “Just Ask! Foundation” and she wants to be our first Ambassador!

I can’t think of a better person to represent the Just Ask Foundation than Megan!
